UCO Bank, formerly known as United Commercial Bank, is a major mid-sized public sector bank in India. It was founded in the year 1943 at Kolkata in West Bengal. The bank commenced operations with 14 branches and an issued capital of INR 2 crore. The Government of India nationalised the bank in July 1969. At present, the Government of India holds majority stakes in the bank. UCO Bank was ranked 1948 in 2018 Forbes Global 2000 List and 80 on the 2020 Fortune India 500 List.
